Mike Burdett
Mike started his career in purchasing with the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970. In the Corps he received extensive training in all phases of procurement, inventory control and logistics. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work in the "oil patch" of Texas during the 1970s "oil boom." Mike worked 18 years in various oilfield related manufacturing and equipment businesses in Texas prior to moving to Nevada in 1988.

In 1992, Mike was hired as a Buyer by the State of Nevada Purchasing Division. Due to his extensive knowledge and background, Mike was quickly promoted to Senior Buyer, with purchasing responsibilities as diverse as heavy equipment, police supplies, and technology purchases. Mike left the State of Nevada in November 1999 to come to work for the Washoe County Purchasing Department as a buyer assigned to the Washoe County Sheriff`s Office. Over the years he has continued to be responsible for the purchasing of a diverse array of products and services for the Washoe County Sheriff`s Office and many other departments around the County including the Sierra Fire Protection District.

According to John Balentine, retired Washoe County Purchasing and Contracts Administrator, "Mike has a superior knowledge of the purchasing and supply management field that proves invaluable to the Washoe County Purchasing Department on a daily basis."

Mike would like to continue to add to ISM Nevada in any way I can and to represent the North in that action what ever it may be.

Melanie Lever, C.P.M.

My career in Purchasing began almost 8 years ago at the University of Nevada, Reno.  I am now a Senior Buyer with Washoe County School District where I have been employed for 3 years.  I am an active participant in the Northern Nevada Consortium for Cooperative Purchasing and became C.P.M. certified last year.

I would like to serve on the Board for ISM because I would like to see the Northern Nevada chapter grow and in these tough economic times realizing the retention of existing members and an increase in membership will be difficult, but is more important than ever.  Additionally, I would like to see an expansion in the cooperative efforts and communication between the North and South affiliates.  I would also welcome the opportunity to more actively participate in an organization dedicated to advancing the Purchasing profession, and believe this is the perfect time to get involved.

Carol Poindexter, C.P.M., A.P.P., CPPO

As a member of Clark County School District, Carol spends her time as a coordinator for mail services and the warehouse. Her tenure started in 2002 as the supervisor for instructional supply purchasing. After two years in this position, school standards were added to her list of duties. In 2005, she moved into her current position as Coordinator IV for the departments listed above. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, she worked for California State University, San Bernardino for 20 years. As a Buyer for CSUSB she coordinated co-op purchasing with nearby colleges and universities. Carol has a BS in Administration, C.P.M., A.P.P., and CPPO Certifications and is working towards the CPSM certification now offered by ISM.

Carol has been an active member of ISM-Nevada since 2004 supporting the mission of the organization. She has served as communication chair, producing the monthly newsletters, scheduled monthly meetings, and volunteered, wherever needed, at the various functions sponsored by ISM-NV organization.

Joe Skreczko, C.P.M. has been working in Supply Chain Management since 1994.  He started his career in the Air Force as a Contracts Specialist and focused on service and construction management.  Upon completing his Bachelor's degree in Administration at Bellevue University, Joe progressed to a position with Lockheed Martin as a Subcontracts Administrator.  He moved to Nevada in 2005 as a Senior Buyer for Sierra Nevada Corporation and continues there as a Procurement Analyst, concentrating on process improvement and improving efficiency.

Joe credits his success to the training and certifications received as an ISM member. Having recently been awarded the C.P.M., Joe sees the value of certification and is currently studying for the CPSM Bridge exam. Joe has been a Nevada Affiliate member since 2006, and would like to give back to the ISM community by serving as a board member.  He plans to focus on increasing membership and promoting more activities and training opportunities in the northern Nevada area.
